When viewing database, it would be nice to be able to edit the equipment property right there instead of opening equipment edit dialog box every-time. Also, it will save much more time if multiple line items can be selected for the same type of change.
I strongly agree with this suggestion.
To expand on this suggestion, while in the Database Browser:
Provide a toggle at the top to "Enable Database Editing". The two options are "View" and "Edit". When you first open the database browser, it is in view mode. You can choose to switch to "Edit" mode. This will help prevent inadvertent changes.
While in Edit mode, the database browser would behave a lot like a spreadsheet.
A 'Text' field could be edited right from the database browser itself. (Eg: Cable Length, Transformer %Z, etc..)
A dropdown/picklist would appear for selectable items. (Eg: Cable Type/Insulation/Size)
Checkboxes can be toggled on and off.
etc...
Provide Cut/copy/paste/fill/Delete options:
Hotkeys as well as toolbar - Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Delete Key
Fill down using Ctrl-D or via Toolbar
Paste Multiple: Select one field, push Ctrl-C to copy, then select multiple other fields, push Ctrl-V to paste the copied item to all selected fields.
Provide guardrails so that cut/paste only can be applied to the same type of field.
Undo and/or Commit function:
Allow Undo via Ctrl-Z or toolbar, going back for the entire edit session. -and/or-
Require that changes be 'committed':
Enter Edit mode
Make a bunch of changes to items throughout the database.
They don't get written until a 'commit changes' button is pushed.
Once 'commit' is pushed, changes are written and you are put back into 'View' mode.
A 'Discard changes' option would be available as well.
